Description
A telephoto image of the charcoal kilns during a Spring snowstorm (04/14/2012) at 7000' in Wildrose Canyon of Death Valley National Park. The 10 kilns were built in the late 1800's to provide charcoal for silver ore processing at the Modoc Mine across Panamint Valley. The Wildrose Canyon site was selected because of the abundance of Pinyon Pine trees for making charcoal.
